Owens Dulce et Decorum and Whitmans Dirge for Two Veterans both spend a penny extremely opthalmic and emotional statements about the watch oer of dying in struggle. The opposing views on death and honour can be compared with each authors use of pathos, visual imagery, historical context, and the subjects in these poems. The historical context of these state of wars explains some of the dis parate views of honour and war. Whitmans war was the American civil war; artillery pieces were often visible to the opposing forces and had a unmindful range.
